So Pack This

  • Do Bring
  • Don’t Bring
  • Optional

System Requirements

You literally cannot game without these, so double-check your inventory before you leave the house.

PC & Monitor

A desktop tower and single monitor OR a laptop.

Note: One monitor only per person due to power and space constraints—multi-monitor setups are not permitted.

Peripherals

Your primary tools of the trade. Keyboard, mouse, headset, and mouse/desk mat.

Software

Please update your OS and install your games before arriving.

Note: Don’t panic if you forget—we have a local file server and LANcache on deck to get you patched up fast.

Indoor Footwear

Please bring clean and comfortable indoor footwear——let’s keep the outdoor muck off the lovely ballroom floor.

Overnight Gear

You’ve aged out of sleeping on the bare floor. Please bring an air mattress or cot, sleeping bag, pillow, and toiletries if you are staying the night.

Vibes

A kick-ass attitude for seventy-eight straight hours of gaming!

Leave it in the Stash

To keep the venue safe, spacious, and comfortable for everyone, please leave these items at home.

Multiple Monitors

We really mean it——save the screen real estate for your neighbours.

Speakers

Headsets only. We need to strictly manage noise levels and power load, so please leave the external speakers at home.

High-Draw Appliances

To protect the power grid——and for the sake of everyone’s uptime——please do not bring mini-fridges, table fans, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), space heaters, or lava lamps. These devices risk tripping breakers for an entire row.

Note: Low-power USB accessories plugged into your PC are permitted.

Oversized Beds

Overnight space is tight. Please keep air mattresses and cots to a reasonable size. Don’t be the person who brings a Canyonero-sized sleeper.

Quality of Life Upgrades

These items aren’t mandatory for survival, but they will definitely buff your comfort level over the long haul.

BYO-Chair

We provide folding chairs, but for the sake of your butt and back, bringing your own seating is highly recommended.

Earplugs

Essential for blocking out fan noise and that one neighbour snoring loud enough to cause ripples in your water cup.

Reusable Water Bottle

Speaking of water, stay hydrated and save the planet (and your desk space) from a mountain of plastic.

Controllers

Your specialized input of choice. Gamepads, flight sticks, wheels, or fight sticks.

Consoles

You’re welcome to set them up within your allotted desk space.

Note: To keep the power grid happy, please do not run your PC and console at the same time.

Need a Rig?

A LAN Before Time is strictly BYOC, but if you don’t have access to a PC, or your current rig lacks the technological juice, don’t fret. We have an incredibly helpful and generous community! Whether you need a full tower, a monitor, or just a spare mouse, drop a polite request over on the #gear-garage channel on our Discord to see if a fellow attendee has anything extra to lend out.
